Air conditioning units

Air conditioning equipment (residential splits, central ducted, commercial VRF, industrial chillers) uses PU in multiple critical applications: thermal insulation of internal components (avoiding capacity loss and condensation), refrigerant pipe insulation (copper and others), compressor and fan acoustic insulation, vibration damping in compressor mountings, and coatings on external components exposed to weather. The highest-volume application is refrigerant pipe insulation — typically with pre-extruded elastomeric foam in tubular format (half-shells) or field-applied flexible PU foam. Market in strong growth globally driven by: climate change increasing climate control demand, urban expansion in emerging markets, technological transition to more efficient systems (VRF chillers, centrifugal chillers with low-GWP refrigerants). Brazil is one of the largest regional residential air conditioning markets in the world.
