Automotive chassis and underbody coatings

Underbody coating (vehicle floor) and chassis points exposed to impacts and corrosion is a spray-applied protective layer that combines functions of: anticorrosive protection (exposure to water, road salt, mud), protection against debris impacts (stones, gravel thrown by tires), noise reduction (underbody impacts are a source of interior noise), and protection of mechanical components (fuel, brake, electrical lines). PVC-based coatings were traditionally used, but high-thickness spray polyurethane (spray elastomer, 2-5 mm thickness) offers significantly superior performance in impact and abrasion resistance, plus flexibility maintained at low temperatures. Widely used application in pickups, off-road SUVs, commercial vehicles, and increasingly in premium automobiles in markets with aggressive roads (winter salt, gravel roads).
