What it is

What it is

Agricultural product storage chambers cover distinct applications: climate-controlled warehouses for fruits (mango, grape, apple, banana) with temperature and humidity control, refrigerated warehouses for export vegetables, controlled atmosphere (ATM) chambers for sensitive fruits (pear, kiwi), warehouses for milk powder and other processed products of the agricultural chain. Unlike pure industrial cold rooms (covered in Level A, Application 04), agricultural applications have particularities: typically larger volumes (fruit warehouses can have thousands of m³), controlled relative humidity requirements (not just temperature), frequently in remote locations with challenging logistics, less extreme operating temperatures (many operate between 0°C and 15°C instead of −20°C). PUR/PIR sandwich panels dominate due to construction practicality and thermal quality. Growing market driven by expansion of Brazilian fresh fruit exports, cold chain demand in agricultural inputs and storage modernization in emerging markets.

Why it matters

Why it matters

For Brazilian agribusiness — one of the world's largest — agricultural product storage chambers is a decision affecting farm productivity, equipment service life, and final product quality along the chain. Brazilian scale is different from European or American markets: operations of tens of thousands of hectares, machinery fleets with 16-hour-per-day use in harvest, exposure to severe tropical weather.

Current drivers. Machinery premiumization (John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Valtra top-line) expands specific technical applications. Massive expansion of precision agriculture (drones, sensing, agricultural IoT) creates new segments. Environmental certifications in export chains (specialty coffee, RTRS soy, sustainable beef) require growing traceability, including materials used in equipment and infrastructure.
