What it is
Industrial PU floors cover applications where chemical, mechanical and hygienic performance is the main requirement. Cementitious PU (PU/cement hybrid) combines two-component PU resins with cementitious aggregates, forming a monolithic 4-9 mm floor with exceptional chemical resistance, direct thermal shock tolerance (sanitation steam cleaning), and high mechanical durability. Dominant system in food industry (dairies, slaughterhouses, breweries).
Self-leveling decorative PU forms flat, glossy floors in showrooms, premium stores, medical facilities. Anti-ESD PU in electronics facilities (semiconductor, PCB assembly). Application by specialized installers with substrate preparation, PU primer, main self-leveling or trowel layer, and protective top coat. Service life 10-25 years by application.
Why it matters
For paint manufacturers, specialized applicators and project specifiers, industrial pu flooring is a decision balancing technical performance, application cost and regulatory compliance. Regulatory pressure on VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) in developed markets forced transition to waterborne systems in many applications, and Brazil follows this regulatory trajectory.
Current drivers. Sustainability in construction and industry (LEED, AQUA, EDGE certifications) values low-VOC products with documented durability. Premiumization in architectural and automotive finishes drives superior performance systems. Export of Brazilian products (furniture, structural steel, sandwich panels) requires compliance with target market standards (CARB in US, EN in EU). Modern PU formulations meet these combined requirements better than legacy alternatives.
