Corrugated cardboard bonding adhesives

Corrugated cardboard is the most used packaging material in the world — cardboard boxes for transport of all types of merchandise, secondary packaging for consumer products, containers for e-commerce. Traditional competition: starch-based adhesives (dominant in mass production of "commodity" corrugated cardboard) and PVA adhesives. PU adhesives appear in specialized applications where conventional adhesives do not meet requirements: packaging that needs to resist moisture (boxes for frozen products, refrigerated foods, gardening products), bonding of paper reinforced with plastic film (laminations), technical packaging (pharma with barrier requirements), bonding of structural components in cardboard pallets. Reactive PU hot-melt (HMPUR) offers fast in-line cure, excellent moisture resistance after cure, and compatibility with different substrates. Niche market within the vast packaging market, but with sustained growth driven by demand for sustainable packaging that replaces plastics and resists more severe conditions.
