Paper machine belts and blankets

Paper machines use a variety of technical belts in different sections: press felts (absorb water from pulp), formation wires (support and drain the pulp in formation), drying belts (transport the paper through the drier section), transfer belts between sections. These belts are built in multiple layers combining technical fibers (polyamide, polyester, aramid) with polymers that confer specific properties. PU appears in various functions: reinforced TPU layer in high-mechanical-strength belts, elastomers in edges and reinforcements, surface treatments to improve paper release, special seaming components. Highly technical and specialized market, dominated globally by few players (Voith, Albany International, Heimbach, Valmet). Products are consumed by the industry in a continuous cycle — paper plants replace belts regularly (months to 1-2 years service life depending on position and operation).
