Architectural PU coatings for facades

Architectural facade coatings are paints applied to external surfaces of buildings — masonry, concrete, render, fiber-cement panels, EIFS (seen in Application B-05), fiber-cement panels — for weather protection, aesthetic uniformity and moisture insulation. Unlike common architectural paints (acrylics or PVA, dominant in volume in Brazil), architectural PU coatings are used in premium segments where superior durability and performance in severe conditions justify the higher cost: high-end buildings, hospitals, shopping centers, hotels, projects in coastal or aggressive industrial regions. Aliphatic PU maintains color and gloss for 15 to 20 years of solar exposure — vs. 5 to 8 years for conventional acrylic paints. Elastomeric PU systems also offer capability to bridge micro-cracks in masonry, preventing infiltration. Market growing globally, driven by increased durability expectations and reduced maintenance intervals in corporate buildings.
