Unlike custom-cut packaging (Level A Application 11), molded inserts are produced in dedicated molds for the specific shape of the part to be protected, in volumes that justify investment in tooling. Three main technologies: molded rigid foam for impact protection of heavy parts (alternators, automotive pumps, industrial pumps), semi-rigid foam for balance between protection and conformity (electronic components, cast parts), integral skin flexible foam for delicate parts that require non-abrasive surface (painted or polished parts where any scratch on the insert surface causes damage). Segment with relevant B2B dynamics: packaging is designed alongside the part, there is a long-term relationship between packaging manufacturer and industrial customer.
