PU coatings for plastics (soft-touch, protection)

Coatings for plastics are paint systems specifically formulated to adhere to polymeric substrates — polycarbonate, ABS, PC/ABS blend, polyamides, polypropylene, polyolefins, carbon fiber composites. Unlike coatings for metal (which adhere by mechanical adhesion after aggressive surface preparation), adhesion on plastics depends on chemical compatibility between coating and substrate, and frequently requires specific primers (low-surface-energy plastics such as PP need plasma treatment or adhesive primer). Typical applications: external automotive panels (bumpers, fascias, spoilers — already painted as part of OEM or in refinish), portable electronics housings, appliance components, toys, medical equipment, lighting components. Soft-touch finishes (velvet feel) are a PU specialty — applied on surfaces the user frequently touches (steering wheels, consoles, remote controls, laptop housings).
