What it is
Housings (external cases) of electronic devices use PU in two main configurations: injected TPU for fully flexible or semi-rigid products (wearables, sports devices, rugged equipment for aggressive environments), and TPU over-molding on rigid substrate (ABS plastic, polycarbonate or metal) to combine structural rigidity with specific areas of soft-touch, grip or impact protection. Typical applications: portable power tools (Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita — grip areas and drop protection), portable industrial equipment (rugged barcode scanners, tactical communication radios), portable medical devices (transport patient monitors, ambulatory equipment), health and sports wearables. TPU offers a critical combination: impact resistance, chemical resistance, flex durability, and premium appearance with adjustable colors and textures.
