Medical cutaneous adhesives

Medical skin adhesives are specific formulations for direct adhesion to human skin — in medical adhesive tapes, adhesive dressings, ECG electrodes, monitoring sensors, continuous infusion devices (insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors), transdermal medication patches, and post-surgical dressings. Unique requirements: adequate adhesion to stay in place for hours to days, without irritating or macerating the skin, without leaving residue upon removal, and maintaining properties under sweat and body moisture. PU hot-melt adhesives are especially used in long-term applications (24+ hours) where skin cannot be aggressed — modern formulations allow painless and clean removal. Market in strong growth with the expansion of wearable medical devices, continuous diabetes monitoring, and high-performance medical disposables.
