Smartphone and tablet cases

Protective cases for smartphones and tablets are one of the largest global TPU markets in volume, driven by universal smartphone penetration and the high case replacement rate (typical consumers change cases multiple times during device life). TPU dominates the segment due to its unique combination: transparency (allows seeing device color and design), flexibility (absorbs impacts in drops), durability (withstands millions of flex and install/remove cycles), and ease of manufacturing (simple injection in multi-cavity molds). Premium cases use aliphatic TPU (does not yellow under UV) or TPU-PC (polycarbonate) blends that combine flexibility at the edges with hardness on the back (better drop protection). Economy cases use aromatic TPU which yellows in months. Highly fragmented market in manufacturers, but raw material concentrated in few global suppliers.
