Blasting equipment coating
What it is
Blast cabinets, blasting hoses, nozzles, deflectors and internal components of abrasive blasting systems (shot, sand, glass beads) suffer extreme wear. PU coatings offer service life 10-50x higher than steel in specific wear components.
The PU technology applied here is typically specific-hardness anti-abrasion cast pu, selected for the combination of mechanical, chemical and processing properties suitable for the application. Specific formulations vary by equipment manufacturer or final integrator, but the base system has stable characteristics documented in technical literature and segment-specific standards.
Why it matters
For manufacturing industry and chemical processes, blasting equipment coating is a decision where continuous-operation failure cost is high. Unplanned downtime on automated lines costs thousands per hour; critical equipment failure in chemical plants can stop entire operations with direct supply contract impact.
Current drivers. Industry 4.0 and growing automation increase criticality of specific components — one seal failing in a robotized hydraulic press stops the entire shift. Reshoring and industrial expansion in emerging markets (including Brazil with New Industry Brazil program) create new demand. Industrial sustainability via durability (reducing part replacement) competes with ESG pressure for bio-based materials and recyclability — and modern PU systems offer responses in both directions.
