Industrial seals, gaskets and O-rings

Seals are critical components in virtually all mechanical equipment: static gaskets (joints between fixed parts), dynamic seals (on rotating shafts or pistons), o-rings (standardized sealing rings in thousands of sizes), hydraulic seals (high pressures), pneumatic seals, seals for chemical industry equipment. PU competes with nitrile rubber (NBR), fluorinated rubber (FKM/Viton), EPDM and thermoplastic polyurethane in specific applications. PU advantages in seals: exceptional abrasion resistance (dynamic seals in hydraulic cylinders), better oil and fuel resistance than nitrile rubber, high elastic modulus (effective sealing with little deformation), and cycling durability. Typical applications: seals in hydraulic cylinders of heavy equipment (tractors, backhoes, off-highway trucks), seals in industrial pumps, seals in drilling mud handling equipment, food-grade seals in food equipment. Specialized market with high value per part.
